Corporate Social Responsibility

Our mission is to stand out as the preferred portfolio of hotels & resorts in Greece offering excellent service, great locations, impeccable facilities, sophisticated dining and a broad spectrum of options, ensuring a flawless hospitality experience for guests, all in a sustainable manner.

Committed to its responsible operation and the goal of sustainable hospitality, Mitsis Hotels’ CSR programme ‘A story of change’ is built upon 5 key thematic pillars and exemplifies the Group’s values and aspiration to act as a role model for sustainable tourism development in the country, contributing 5% of its annual net profit to social and philanthropic initiatives.

With a notable presence across Greece, Mitsis Hotels recognises that its growth and progress are inextricably linked to the prosperity of the 5 unique destinations where it operates. The Group empowers local communities by focusing on local recruitment, aiming for 75% of its employees to be permanent residents of its destinations by 2025, and it supports the local primary sector by providing over 15 million euros annually to 140 local producers and suppliers. Mitsis Hotels proudly sponsors local events and actively supports local residents in times of crisis, by offering financial or in-kind support to victims of earthquakes, fires and other natural disasters of its destinations. It also collaborates with distinguished NGOs, including its long-standing partnerships with Make-A-Wish Greece, Ark of the World and HOPEgenesis, while the establishment of the Blood Donor Volunteer Association ‘Mitsis Group of Companies’ with the participation of its employees and guests makes a valuable contribution to the blood banks of its destinations.

Mitsis Hotels makes the most of its impeccable Greek essence and embodies the values of Mediterranean life, culture and history. The Group aims to revive tradition by highlighting the historical sites and monuments of its destinations, sponsoring local cultural events, and encouraging the participation of its employees and visitors. Through its distinguished F&B outlet and procurement policy, it aims to showcase local gastronomy and expose its guests to traditional local culinary flavours. Simultaneously, the Group collaborates with Marketing Greece to upgrade the qualitative aspects of Greek tourism and promote the country as an enticing destination.

Being home to 4,500 employees and 400,000 guests annually, Mitsis Hotels aspires to be flexible and adaptable to individual needs and celebrates the uniqueness of each individual. Enriched by everyone, the Group aims to enhance diversity, support female empowerment and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees and guests. Within the coming years, the Group targets increasing the quota of women in management positions to 40%, and provides employee care by establishing a holistic benefit programme for its team members and their families.

In light of a new era in the tourism industry and always seeking to adjust to the mindset of new generations, Mitsis Hotels aims to become a leading force of change and innovation. The Group is committed to the personal and professional development of its employees and offers extensive and ongoing training and seminars across all departments. The Group supports the young talents of its destinations, welcoming over 100 interns from 17 partner universities and sponsoring over 20 local sports teams and athletes. It also supports R&D initiatives and scientific conferences, acting as a proud Gold Sponsor of GreenTech Challenge, the largest national green innovation programme for the promotion of new ideas that address significant contemporary environmental challenges, including the achievement of sustainable tourism.

Sustainable development lies at the heart of Mitsis Hotels and the Group continuously aims to minimise the environmental footprint of its 20 hotels and protect the biodiversity of its 5 destinations. In the context of its environmental programme, the Group sets targets to minimise energy, water and waste consumption, and organises a series of environmental initiatives, including beach cleanings and tree plantings, with the participation of its employees and guests. Its Greek-themed restaurants feature zero carbon footprint dishes, made with organic ingredients from local producers and zero waste in their preparation. The Group also collaborates with WWF Greece for the ‘Adopt a Beach’ and ‘Hotel Kitchen’ programmes, for the protection of coastal areas and the reduction of food waste, respectively.

For its continued sustainability efforts, Mitsis Hotels is recognised with a series of awards and certification for all of its 20 hotels, including Bike Friendly, Blue Flag, Green Key, ISO 14001, ISO 2200 and Travelife Gold Certification, as well as the Group’s distinction in the ‘Most Sustainable Companies in Greece’ for 2023. Mitsis Hotels also publishes its annual CSR Report, which contains the sum of the Group’s social contribution and environmental practices.
